Trumpane Public School

HKLA was retained to provide Landscape Architectural design services for multiple play areas, including several play structures, a trail system, an outdoor basketball court, a hard play area, an outdoor classroom, and a childcare area. The project transformed an underutilized and degraded schoolyard into a safe, functional, and engaging outdoor environment for students and staff, while carefully coordinating grading and design to preserve existing mature trees in the front yard.

A unique challenge of the project was responding to the existing slope in the kindergarten and childcare area. HKLA incorporated a tiered seating feature that worked seamlessly with the topography, enhancing both play and learning opportunities. Through thoughtful design and careful site planning, the project maximized usable space, integrated multiple program elements, and delivered a dynamic, inclusive outdoor environment.
