600 Princess Street

HKLA was retained by 600 Princess Street Ltd., with Podium Developments acting as Development Manager, to provide landscape architectural services for a proposed 192-unit, six-storey residential development located at 600 Princess Street in Kingston, Ontario.  The project involved the design and coordination of landscape elements within a dense urban infill context, supporting the overall architectural vision while addressing municipal requirements and site constraints.

HKLA’s scope included advancing the project through design development and detailed documentation stages, including the preparation of comprehensive landscape plans incorporating the design of a central landscape courtyard that serves as the primary amenity and gathering space for residents, along with green roof design, ground-level and rooftop amenity spaces, boulevard planting, and site furnishings. The firm also produced Issued for Tender and Issued for Construction drawing packages, supported the tendering process through responses to contractor inquiries, and participated in coordination meetings with the broader consultant team to ensure alignment across disciplines. During construction, HKLA provided contract administration services, including site inspections, progress reporting, and review and certification of contractor invoices. Through this full-scope involvement, from design through construction support, HKLA delivered an integrated landscape solution that enhanced the livability and functionality of the development while ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
